Once our eyes are opened we cannot pretend we do not know what to do. God, who weighs our hearts and keeps our souls knows we know and holds us responsible to act. Proverbs 24:12

So NBC thinks I am a "non-mom"

I'm not even sure where to begin with this.  NBC is running a special on Sunday honoring moms.  There are different categories with mom nominees and all week on the Today Show they have been showing their stories.  There is a category for the working mom, the single mom, the military mom and the "non-mom".  Yep, that's right, the "non-mom" category is for adoptive mothers, grandmothers, in primary care giver roles, step-moms and a few other "misfits".  Seriously, right on their website it said "non-moms".  I have posted the photo of it because otherwise you wouldn't believe it.  After being inundated with emails and phone calls they changed the title to "adoptive moms".

They also describe one mother as having one child of her own and 6 meth babies.  I wish I were joking.  It's so beyond offensive, there are no words.  Ignorance is no scape goat for this kind of behavior.  Needless to say, I am asking everyone I know who reads this to please NOT watch the show this weekend and if you are feeling extra motivated please send a little note NBC's way letting them know this is totally unacceptable.  I have included the email for your convenience.  support@americasfavoritemom.com or today@msnbc.com

I just typed my LIVID response to NBC and I feel a little better. I guess I will no longer be starting my day off with Matt, Meredith, Ann & Al!

Wow... that is completely offensive! How did those geniuses come up with the conclusion that adoptive moms are "non- moms"!! I would be pissed too.

I also sent an email when it came out last week. Happy Mother's Day to all of us moms through adoption and every other person who fulfills the "mom" role for children.
